DAY OFF CAMPS
Fall 2023 Schedule
Oct 9 - Nature in Chicago
During this camp, students will learn about bird nests and migration, how to plant tulip bulbs in autumn, build compost in a bottle, and learn to identify the changing leaves.
Oct 26 - Amphibians Day
During this camp, students will learn about the life cycle of a frog, learn about the unique habitat of axolotls, sculpt a surinam toad, and note some of the differences between an amphibian and a reptile.
Oct 27 - Grand Canyon Day
During this camp, students will learn about the fauna that grows in Grand Canyon National Park, discover how rock formations are created, and identify some of the unique animals living in the Grand Canyon by trying out some of the tracking methods that park rangers use to observe them in the real-life park.
Nov 10 - Reptiles Day
During this camp, students will smell like a snake, hunt like a snake, make viper venom, mix up a batch of dissolving turtle eggs, and end the day with some very cool reptile visitors from the Evanston Ecology Center who are scheduled to arrive in the afternoon. In-class field trip permission slips are required for this camp and kids will need to review the rules about respecting animal friends.
